New Mauville had proven to be far more interesting than he could have imagined. And he hadn't even descended past the first floor of it yet either. Same as before, however, he brought along Brigid to help scout the area before he proceeded downward. The last time they'd been here, she had narrowly managed to rescue him from a Galvantula with an appetite that had since become fairly kind to her new trainer and her new partners.

"I'm just relieved I remembered to come well equipped this time," He smirked, digging into the tool bag wrapped around his chest like a messenger's pouch. Pulling out the heavy duty flashlight within it, he switched on the light and shone it beneath his chin... before precariously angling his head upwards to check for more hungry spiders. Relieved to find none, he chuckled to himself before continuing to venture forward.

Ambushed in a long hallway by an aggressive Escavalier was no place to be. Though, he reasoned, it was perfect for the jousting match it appeared to want to initiate.

When it finally did, charging forward with both of its arms held firmly up, Atlan was quick to turn and run away as fast as he could. But it was no use! It would strike him down before he could turn the corner at the end. Realizing this just soon enough, he stopped and turned around and pointed at the bug-knight, prompting Brigid to skid to a stop and sharply turn around as well.

"Protect!" He commanded, watching as the Aron formed an invisible barrier out of thin air that successfully shielded them from being impaled. "Now Rock Tomb!" He added, watching as the attack did damage to the Escavalier and successfully barricaded them away from it. With a relieved sigh, Atlan laughed.

"Whew. Nice work, girl."

Through some miracle, certain parts of New Mauville still had working equipment and the electricity to power them. As Atlan and Brigid explored the man-made labyrinth, this would become evident when a spotlight suddenly shone down on them from above. Something (or someone) had been waiting for them. When they looked up to see, however, they couldn't discern what.

"Peekaperepk?"

A squeaky voice suddenly asked in a calm and welcoming voice from the darkness beyond. Atlan tilted his head.

"W-What? I don't speak... that."

Silence followed his response for a moment... then a strange series of sounds that resembled growling and choking before, finally, the pokémon that had intended to interrogate them walked out from the darkness.

"PEEKEREPKEK?"

It aggressively growled, dropping down on all fours as a strange aura began to surround its body as a massive spinning wheel. Brigid was quick to position herself in front of her partner while he reached for an empty ball. When it came spinning towards them like a destructive little tire, the Aron blocked it backwards with a Protect and Atlan followed up with a throw, hoping to put this strange encounter to a non-violent end.
